Best QB Matchups
CJ Stroud (O238.5 passing yards, FD) will be facing a Tampa secondary that ranks 32nd in the league in passing YPG (271 YPG) allowed, 30th in YPA and and 23rd in passes of 10+ yards. Stroud has struggled the L2 weeks against the Panthers and Saints stronger secondaries, but he will have a great opportunity on Sunday to get his rookie season back on track against a secondary that over the L3 weeks has allowed Jared Goff (30-44, 353 yards, 2 TD’s), Desmond Ridder (19-25, 250 yards) and Josh Allen (31-40, 324 yards, 2 TD’s, 1 INT) all to have significant success.
Derek Carr (O250.5 passing yards, FD) will take on a Chicago Bears’ secondary at home that ranks 28th in passing YPG allowed at 270, 28th in YPA and 26th in passes of 10+ yards. Carr is averaging nearly 238 passing YPG in 2023 but has cleared 300 yards over each of the L3 weeks finishing 32-50 for 353 yards and a TD against Houston in Week 7, 33-55 for 301 yards and a TD against Jacksonville in Week 8 and 19-27 for 310 yards and 2 TD’s against Indy in Week 9. Jordan Love (15-27, 245 yards, 3 TD’s), Baker Mayfield (26-34, 317 passing yards, 1 TD) Sam Howell (37-51, 388 yards, 2 TD’s, 1 INT), Justin Fields (28-35, 335 yards, 4 TD’s, 1 INT), Pat Mahomes (24-33, 272 yards, 3 TD’s in less than 3 quarters of action) and Justin Herbert (31-40, 298 yards, 3 TD’s) have all shredded this secondary. Weather will not be factor as this game will be in NO.
Worst QB Matchups
Justin Herbert (O/U 248.5 passing yards, FD) faces a Jets secondary in Week 9 that ranks 4th in passing YPG allowed and YPA and 2nd in passes of 10+ yards. Jalen Hurts (28-45, 280 yards, 1 TD, 3 INT’s), Josh Allen (18-34, 204 yards, 2 INT’s) and Pat Mahomes (18-30, 203 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT’s) have all struggled against this defense in 2023, and Herbert will be without WR Josh Palmer on the road on MNF after already losing Mike Williams earlier in the season.
Best RB Matchups
Zack Moss (O42.5 rushing yards, FD) and Jonathan Taylor (O68.5 rushing yards, FD) are the one-two punch of a Colts’ rushing attack that ranks 9th in the league in rushing YPG and 10th in YPC that has rushed for 168 yards against the Browns (8th in rushing YPG allowed) and 164 yards against the Saints (15th in rushing YPG). Indy has an excellent matchup against a Carolina run defense that ranks 29th in rushing YPG (141 rushing YPG), 30th in YPC and 26th in runs of 10+ yards. Carolina has been shredded by opposing backs all season, most recently by Alexander Mattison (17 carries, 95 yards) and Minnesota (135 total yards), David Montgomery (19 carries, 109 yards, 1 TD) and Detroit (159 total) and Raheem Mostert (17 carries, 115 yards, 2 TD’s) and Miami (162 total). Through 8 weeks, Zack Moss is tied for 2nd in the league in rushes of 10+ yards and shares the league lead with DeVon Achane in runs of 20+.
Saquon Barkley (O/U 78.5 rushing yards, FD) will be facing a Raiders’ running game that ranks 30th in rushing YPG, 27th in YPC and 32nd in runs of 10+ yards just allowed D’Onta Foreman (16 carries, 89 yards, 2 TDs) and Darrynton Evans (14 carries, 48 yards) to run free in Week 7 and Jahmyr Gibbs (26 carries, 152 yards, 1 TD) to do the same in Week 8. Barkley ran the ball 36 times for 128 yards in Week 8 against the Jets in one of the ugliest games in recent memory where the Giants finished with -8 passing yards, and will have an excellent opportunity to continue to produce in the ground game against a Raiders’ rushing defense that does not excel in defending it.
Alvin Kamara (O36.5 receiving yards, FD) faces a Chicago defense ranks 28th in the league in passing YPG allowed per game and 32nd in RB receiving yards allowed (62.5 per game). Austin Ekeler caught 7 balls for 94 yards and a TD in Week 8 against Chicago and cleared this number on the Chargers’ first drive on SNF after he caught a screen and took it 39 yards to the end zone for a Tuddy in the 1st quarter of SNF. Kamara continues to be a focal point of this offense since his return from suspension in both the run game and the passing game. He’s averaging 17.2 carries per game, 64 rushing YPG, 7.8 receptions, 8.8 targets and 45.6 receiving yards per game and has cleared this number in each of the last three weeks.
Worst RB Matchups
Tony Pollard (O/U 53.5 rushing yards, FD) will face the Eagles’ top ranked run defense that is 1st in rushing YPG allowed, 8th in YPC and 2nd in runs of 10+ yards. An opponent’s leading rusher has cleared this number against the Eagles just once in 2023 – Brian Robinson carried the ball 10 times for 59 yards in Week 8.
Best WR Matchups
CeeDee Lamb (O/U 78.5 receiving yards, FD) faces an Eagles secondary that ranks 26th in passing YPG allowed and 32nd in passes of 10+ yards off a Week 8 performance in which he caught 12 balls for 158 yards and 2 TD’s against the Rams. Sam Howell just threw for 397 yards and 4 TD’s on 39-52 passing in Week 8 against this secondary, and if Prescott can duplicate that level of success in Week 9, Lamb should have something to do with it.
Nico Collins (O/U 60.5 receiving yards, FD) has an excellent matchup against a Tampa secondary that ranks 30th in passing YPG allowed and 23rd in YPA. Collins is averaging 82.4 receiving YPG and is Houston’s top target in the passing game – he has struggled in recent weeks against a Panthers secondary that ranks 6th in passing YPG allowed and a Falcons secondary that ranks 6th in passing YPG allowed and 4th in passes of 10+ yards. Collins is averaging nearly 7 targets per game and should be the focal point in this week’s passing attack that allowed Josh Allen to throw for 324 yards and 2 TD’s on 31-40 passing in Week 8 and four Bills wideouts to clear the 60.5 receiving yard mark.
